To be informed is almost an art, I think. In times where information is so widely accessible it is enough easy, a lot of times, to be not informed. I know, this is paradoxical. But it is true. Because an excess of informations can produce so much "noise" (it is said noise in the theory of communication all that is not strictly pertinent to the core-matter which is object of an article, investigation, report, etc.) that the information in itself can disappear under our same eyes. In other words this means that an excess of information can produce a disinformation.
For sure all of us we think we are enough informed regarding some important matters of our daily routine. For instance, I am sure that anybody can admit he/she is well informed about food. Who is not informed about food, for God's sake, right? I think that everybody of us is convinced that he/she knows everything that matters about food just because he/she is always reading products labels when buying at the supermarket on Saturday morning.
Sorry to say, my dear readers, this is absolutely useless because what really matters is not to read labels after the product is produced and put on sale. What really matters is to know where the product is coming from and how it was growing. In other words we needs to know if a food product is biologically natural or it has been manipulated originating a transformation which is known under the name of GMO. GMO is an acronym (sort of abbreviation) that means: Genetically Modified Organism. Unfortunately in USA labels of food products don't report if they are genetically modified or not. This happens because American Law permits to compare at the same level products biologically natural or genetically modified. On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, in Europe, Law doesn't permit to say they are the same and if a product is the result of a genetic manipulation this is must be indicated on the label.
If you want to know which is the company that owns almost all the patents of GMO products (like seeds, for instance) on the planet you should have a look to an interesting documentary realized for a French investigation journalist. She is Marie-Monique Robin and she has dedicated more than two years to realize a very interesting documentary wholly dedicated to Monsanto, the most important and famous company in the world in the agricultural and bio-genetic sector.
I am not going to anticipate here the results of her investigations. However is better you know that Monsanto is not a company dedicated to respect people and environment (even if they say they do it). In the name of profits (for shareholders) they have committed and are committing any kind of crimes. In the documentary, of course, these crimes are well documented. If you wish to know more I suggest you to follow one of the links below, according to your preferred language. It is an interesting travel inside not only the agricultural and bio-genetic business, but a travel as well inside the deep nature of us, human beings. Especially certain kind of human beings, whose appetite is so big that they are creating hunger all around the world with the purpose to control the worldwide food production. Did you know it, maybe?
